Welcome to the Living Beyond Barriers ~ Self-Care Sunday Series! In a world that often calls us to push forward tirelessly, God invites us into rest. True self- care is a deeply spiritual practice, where we renew our hearts, minds, and bodies in His presence. Each week in this series, we’ll explore simple ways to connect with God, care for ourselves, and experience His healing and peace.
In Matthew 11:28, Jesus says, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."
Self-care rooted in faith is more than just relaxation; it’s an opportunity to draw near to God, surrender our burdens, and receive His strength.
Week 1: Renewing Your Spirit
1. Begin with Gratitude and Praise
Start your time with a grateful heart. Reflect on Psalm 118:24: "This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."
Write down three blessings you received this past week. This gratitude anchors your heart in God’s goodness and shifts your focus toward joy.
Then move into worship the Bible verse that clearly states God seeks after those who worship Him is John 4:23, which says, "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeks such people to worship Him."
2. Reflect and Surrender
Spend a few quiet moments in prayer, asking God to reveal any burdens you’re carrying. Invite Him to help you release what’s weighing on you. "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7) Allow God’s peace to fill the space where worries once lingered.
3. Set a God-Centered Intention for the Week
Choose one word or verse to guide you in the coming week, like patience, faith, or hope. Write this intention somewhere you’ll see daily, and pray over it, meditate on it, go into prayer and intercession asking God to work in you throughout week. Ask God to give your revelation and a Rama word throughout the week.
